SUMMER FUN NIGHT

What a great turnout! Thank you to everyone for your support.  The night raised £1500 for school.

ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE

The attendance certificate for last week was won by the Goldfinch class with 100% attendance.  Well done Goldfinch.  Overall attendance for the school was 96.3%.

SATS

The year six children did extremely well in their SATS. I am really proud of all the children and delighted with the progress they have made this year. Well done to all the pupils and staff. Also, thank you for your support at home, this really is a team effort.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

We are pleased to announce that once again Moses School wear on Drake Street, Rochdale will be stocking all items of the school uniform again this year.  If you mention that you have seen this reminder in the newsletter when visiting the shop, you will qualify for a 10% discount! Please ensure that your child is in full school uniform in September.  Thank you.

PIERCED EARS

If you were thinking of having your child’s ears pierced, it would be advisable to do so at the start of the summer holiday. It will give them time to heal properly before we come back to school in September. In September, the earrings must be removed or covered for PE.

SWIMMING GALA

On Monday, 8th July, some of our Year 5 & 6 children took part part in a swimming gala at Todmorden Swimming Baths.  The children were amazing and showed great team spirit.  Well done to all those who took part and thank you to Miss. Gibson and Miss. Bolton for organising the event.

DINNER MONEY

Please note that from September, dinner money will be £2.20 per day: £11.00 per week.  Children in Reception, Years 1 and 2 all qualify for Universal Free School Meals; however, if you currently qualify for Free School Meals (regardless of what year your child is in), you must renew your application ready for September now. New forms are available in the office.

There also seems to be some confusion about the amounts you can pay online, the amount payable will always default to the weekly charge; however, if you would like to pay less or more, you should just delete this amount and enter the amount you would like to pay – divisible by £2.15 or (£2.20 in September).  If for any reason you experience difficulty using the online system, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.  Thank you.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS

Please ensure that your child takes home all their personal belongings before we finish next Friday.

FRIDAY, 19TH JULY

All the children will watch the year six production in the morning. This is a normal uniform day and year sixes can sign their shirts.

Good luck to all the year sixes who are moving onto high school. Work hard and you will all succeed. It has been a pleasure watching you all grow and develop over the last 7 years. Congratulations on great SAT results, you should be very proud of yourselves. You really have worked extremely hard.

SUMMER HOLIDAY

Just a reminder that we break up for summer next Friday, 19th July, at 3.15pm and return on Wednesday, 4th September, at 8.45am and that our school day will be 8:45am – 3:15pm.

I wish you all a great summer holiday and I really hope the sun shines.

DINNER MONEY

Recently we have had several instances of non-payment for dinner money.  Either dinner money must be paid for in advance, on a Monday morning for the week or month, or on the day if individual dinners are being taken - you would not be able to shop at food outlet and pay the next week.  As a school, we cannot afford to have any debt. Therefore, if you owe any outstanding dinner money, your child will not be provided with a school meal until the arrears are paid in full. Anyone with outstanding dinner money will have received a text or email message today.  Payment can be sent into school or alternatively you can log into your account on School Money.  It has never been easier to pay for school dinners. All arrears MUST be cleared before the end of term.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate in calling into school.

MILNROW & NEWHEY STREETWATCH

After 9 months of discussion and consultation with GMP, Milnrow and Newhey Street Watch Scheme was finally launched on 1 June 2019.  The scheme is for local members of the community to monitor the local area in pairs around Firgrove, Milnrow and Newhey.  All members of the scheme have been subject to Police checks and have received guidance from GMP on the rules for monitoring. Last Wednesday all members attended an induction course lead by the local GMP neighbourhood Policeman.  The first walk around the villages accompanied by the neighbourhood Policeman and local PCSO’s followed this.  Regular monitoring commenced on Monday, 10th June.  This scheme is strictly non-confrontational and the scheme have no Police powers, the aim is simply to be a visual presence around the village, to engage with local residents and bring back community cohesion in the hope of preventing crime and antisocial behaviour.

The Street Watch Scheme are interested to meet as many parents and children as possible to hear their views on how they think things may be done to improve things in the area so please say hello to them when you see members out and about.

NAILS IN TYRES

Unfortunately, some staff have had nails in their tyres from the carpark. The carpark does not have any nails on it. We have had this in the past, especially when we hold an after school event. We did discover that somebody had put nails right under tyres so that they punctured as soon as the car set off. Not only is this very inconvenient and costly, but it is also extremely dangerous. Please could I ask that if you see anybody messing around the cars to inform the school office immediately? In addition, if you know anything about this please inform me. I am conscious that we have a summer fun night ahead of us. Thank you.

KEY 103 SUPERHERO DAY

Thank you again for all your support for this great cause. We raised £190 for Teenage Cancer Trust. The children had good fun watching the teachers challenging each other.

On Tuesday, 4th June, Year 3 children will be visiting the lake to take part in a canoeing activity. Children will travel by coach and will be back before 3:15pm. They should be in their games kit with a school jumper on, trainers and will need a coat.  If it is hot, please ensure they have sun cream on and a sunhat.

In a carrier bag, children will need a packed lunch from home. If your child is on free school meals, they can order one from school.

They will also need in a waterproof bag:

  • A swimming costume for girls and swim shorts for boys.
  • Old trainers to wear in the lake or P.E. pumps.

They will go in three groups at three different times during the day. The last group will be back at school in time for a normal 3.15pm finish.  They should be in their games kit with a school jumper on.  Children will be provided with a free packed lunch from school. Please tell us if you are providing one from home as it takes time to prepare them. Thank you.

DINNER MONIES

We have noticed that some parents are not paying for their child’s school meals. Dinner money must be paid either in advance for the week or on a daily basis. School cannot afford to carry any debt, therefore if you do not pay on the day or in advance for the week(s) your child will not be provided with a school meal.  Dinner money is £2.15 per day, £10.75 per week.  You can now pay using our online system and everything is now working well. If you need some assistance with this, please contact the school office. If you want to pay by card at the school office, then this is an option too.

Please pay in multiples of £2:15, this helps with our record keeping.

For example:

£2:15               -           1 day

£10:75             -           5 days

£21:50             -           10 days

£32.25             -        &nbs
