BIRDS OF PREY

On Monday, 25th March, Wise Owl Bird of Prey Rescue will be visiting school. POLLING DAY

On Thursday, 2nd May school will be being used as a Polling Station.  In order to safeguard our pupils we have no choice but to close the school on this day.  We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but we are sure you will understand that the reason for this closure is beyond our control. Next year this day of closure will be used as a staff training day.

BIG THANK YOU

We would like to say a big thank you to Gordon Riggs Garden Centre, for their kind donation of soil.  This will be used to develop our garden area.

CROSSING PATROL

As you are aware, we have temporarily lost our crossing patrol. During this time please take extra care. Drivers, please drive sensibly outside school. There shouldn’t be any dropping off or parking on the zig-zags, three point turns outside school or parking in the main gates. It really is dangerous outside school and I am really concerned there will be an accident. Also, when parking, please allow enough space for children to cross in front of the small gates. We are promoting walking to school or parking and striding, it would be great if we could reduce the congestion outside school. I know I sound like I’m moaning, but YOUR children’s safety is extremely important.

MOMO CHALLENGE

I am sure that most parents are now aware of the latest social media challenge. The “Momo Challenge” encourages children to commit dangerous and potentially violent acts through social media and video games, such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Minecraft, and even streams such as Peppa Pig and TicToc via YouTube. I have spoken to the children and said it isn’t real, it doesn’t exist in the real world and it can’t harm you. It is like anything, it will be old news very soon.  I have sent some advice home via email. If you do not receive emails, please call into the office for a copy. Please be vigilant in monitoring your children’s social media interactions and encourage digital detox nights, especially with the light nights. Thank you

If you have any questions please do not hesitate in calling into school.

SNOW

As we have seen this week, the weather is a little unpredictable at the moment.  Unless you receive a text message, school will be open.  There will also be information on our website www.crossgates.rochdale.sch.uk.  We make every effort to get here early and our caretaker spends hours preparing the school grounds for you and the children. As you will appreciate this is a huge task. The only time I have ever closed the school is when it’s extremely dangerous.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate in calling into school.
