PARENTAL SURVEY

Schools have been asked to make parents aware of this survey.

If you’re a parent or carer, and your child is currently accessing, or recently finished accessing professionals to help them with their mental health and wellbeing in Rochdale, Bury, Oldham, Trafford and Stockport click here to complete the survey.

PARKING AND DANGEROUS DRIVING

We have received some complaints from both residents and parents about parking and dangerous driving outside school. Please do not mount the grass verges further up Kiln Lane as they are being damaged. Also, 3 point turns outside school and which mount the kerb, could easily hurt a child or parent. On Thursday morning a parent and child nearly got run over because people weren’t looking where they were going. Nobody wants a serious incident outside school. At the moment there are too many near misses.

WOW – WALK ONCE A WEEK.

We are still encouraging children to walk at least once a week to school. Children collect a badge each month for walking. This helps to reduce the pollution outside school, congestion and encourages children to be active. Thank you for your co-operation.

ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE

The attendance certificate for last week was won by Owls 1 (Mr. Ferris) class with 98.2% attendance.  Well done to Owls 1.   Overall attendance for the school was 95.35%.

PE KITS

Please ensure your child has their labelled PE kit in school – shorts, t-shirt and black pumps, every week. Earrings must be removed or covered for PE. Thank you.

EDUSPOT – ONLINE PAYMENTS

With online payments on the rise, Eduspot (as providers of SchoolMoney) would like to remind you to be extra vigilant when making payments.

Recently, there have been a small number of reports of attempts to defraud parents whilst using SchoolMoney. Eduspot thoroughly investigate all reports of attempts to defraud parents using their system (including separate, independent checks) and can confirm that they have found that no fraud, data breach or malicious attack has occurred.

Eduspot believe however, that it important to remind parents to be extra vigilant when making payments online. NEVER give out your ATM pin to anyone – no system or person should ever require this to complete an online transaction. If something looks suspicious, do not complete the payment, close down your browser and start again making sure you are using a genuine website.  You should also ensure all system and app updates are applied to your PC or mobile devices and that they have reliable, up-to-date anti-virus software installed. Increasingly, mobile devices are the targets of malicious software so it’s important that these also have adequate protection.

Eduspot remains committed to protecting your online security and providing you with an easy to use solution to securely make payments to your schools. If you spot something that doesn’t look right relating to SchoolMoney, please contact us at support@schoolmoney.co.uk.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate in calling into school.

NEW TEACHER

As you will be aware, Mrs Farnsworth is about to start her maternity leave. She finishes on 15th February and I am pleased to tell you that we have appointed a new teacher, Mr Green, to replace her.

PAYING FOR DINNERS

In September we introduced an online system for paying for dinners. This was something many parents had asked for. It has been really successful, except for parents who aren’t paying. Nothing has changed in this regard; dinners MUST be paid for in advance. It is easier than ever. If you cannot use the online system, then please bring, cash, a cheque or your card to the office and Mrs. McGuigan will put the payment online for you. If you have debt with us now, please clear it immediately.

NEW EQUIPMENT

The School Councillors have purchased some new equipment for playtime. We used the money raised from the raffles at Christmas, thank you for being so generous. The children are really enjoying the new equipment; we just need to look after it! If you see any balls or other equipment around the school grounds, please bring them into school – thank you.

ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE

The attendance certificate for last week was won by the Goldfinch, Greenfinch and Owls 1 (Mr. Ferris) classes with 100% attendance.  Well done to Goldfinch, Greenfinch and Owls 1.   Overall attendance for the school was 97.65%.

Please ensure your child has their labelled PE kit in school – shorts, t-shirt and black pumps, every week. Earrings must be removed or covered for PE. Thank you.

FAMILY LUNCHES

Family lunches are due to start again next week. They are very popular in school and something we really value. To help them run smoothly please can you help by doing three things? Once you have finished your lunch please leave promptly so that the rest of the children can be served. We have more children than ever having school dinners. Could you please use the main entrance door and not walk around school. Also, remember, mobile phones are not allowed to be used in school. Thank you for your co-operation.

LATENESS

It is really important that all children arrive on time and should not be late for school. The vast majority of children arrive at school in plenty of time to start the day. The doors open at 8:45am so that children are settled and ready for their day. School starts at 8:55am. Children who do arrive late to school must use the main entrance so that they can be registered in school. They will be taken to class by the office staff so that lessons that have started are not disturbe

The attendance certificate for the week before Christmas was won by the Goldfinch, Greenfinch and Owls 1 (Mr. Ferris) classes with 100% attendance.  Well done to Goldfinch, Greenfinch and Owls 1.   Overall attendance for the school was 97.65%.

SICKNESS IN SCHOOL.

If your child is sick during the night or in school they must be off school for 48 hours. This is to prevent illnesses being passed around school. Thank you for your co-operation.

HEAD LICE

Unfortunately, as we return to school it usually means a return of head lice! Please check your children’s hair weekly and inform us if they have any. This way we can try to keep on top of them by telling other parents.

PE KITS

All children must have a labelled PE kit in school – shorts, t-shirt and black pumps. Earrings must be removed or covered for PE. Thank you.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS

Please ensure that your child has their name clearly written on all of their belongings. That way it is far easier to return them to the right person if they are misplaced.

SCHOOL CLUBS

All ‘school run’ extra-curricular before and after school sports clubs are postponed until the weather improves and the nights are lighter.  French, Karate and Ed-Start will still continue.

BAGS

A lot of children have huge backpacks in school. These cause a problem in the cloakrooms as they are too big for the pegs and make coats drop onto the floor. Over the Christmas holiday, please reduce the size of the bags, they are not needed. The children need their PE kit in school at all times in a small PE bag and the reading bag they were given on their first day at school. Reading bags fit into their drawer nicely. Let’s make a big effort please; some children look like they are going on holiday! Thank you.

We will be supporting the Christmas toy appeal again this year with Hits Radio. If you can, please buy an extra gift for a child and bring it into school; it doesn’t need to be wrapped. The toys will be donated to children in the Manchester area who would otherwise wake up to nothing on Christmas Day. Hits Radio will be collecting the toys between 5th and 14th December.  Many, many thanks.

Each class will be collecting Christmas related foodstuffs for example selection boxes, candies and chocolate etc. and we will then donate them to the Rochdale food bank.  Donations can be brought into school now.  We hope you agree that this is a very worthwhile cause, especially at this time of year.  Thank you for your support.
