REMINDERS:

  •  Thursday, 6th June - Year 4 & some year 5 children swimming. If your child is involved, please ensure they have their swimming kit and towel in school.  Thank you.
  • Wednesday, 12th June 9.05am – Owls 2 (Mrs. Hall) Class Assembly. Everyone welcome.
  • Friday, 7th June– Non-uniform, wear what you want and bring anything made of chocolate for the chocolate tombola at the Summer Fun Night please. (Shop bought with a use-by date on please).
  • We are still a WOW school – walk at least once a week. Thank you.
  • Rochdale Food Bank – We are still supporting this worthwhile cause. If you would like to donate any food items, the donation box is in front of the fish tank in the main entrance.

 

ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE

The attendance certificate for last week was won by the Owls 2 (Mrs. Hall) class with 99.6% attendance.  Well done Owls 2 .  Overall attendance for the school was 96.65%.

 

NON-UNIFORM ‘WEAR WHAT YOU WANT DAY’

Friday, 7th June is non-uniform wear what you want day and we would like the children to bring a donation of chocolate for the chocolate tombola at our Summer Fun Night, which will be on Friday, 14th June. Anything made of chocolate as long as it is sealed with a use by date on please.

 

Friday, 14th June – wear what you want and bring cake for the cake tombola (shop bought with a use-by date please).

If you have any teddy bears that you no longer want, please bring them in for a teddy bear stall.

YEAR 3 RAFTING AT HOLLINGWORTH LAKE – first day back after half term.

On Tuesday, 4th June, Year 3 children will be visiting the lake to take part in a canoeing activity. Children will travel by coach and will be back before 3:15pm. They should be in their games kit with a school jumper on, trainers and will need a coat.  If it is hot, please ensure they have sun cream on and a sunhat. 

In a carrier bag, children will need a packed lunch from home. If your child is on free school meals, they can order one from school.

They will also need in a waterproof bag:

  • A swimming costume for girls and swim shorts for boys.
  • Old trainers to wear in the lake or P.E. pumps.
  • A towel.

All safety equipment/wetsuits will be provided.

 

YEAR 2 CLIMBING

On Wednesday, 5th June, year 2 children will be taking part in a climbing activity at Littleborough Sports Centre.  The children will be taken to and from Littleborough by coach from 9.00am. They will go in three groups at three different times during the day. The last group will be back at school in time for a normal 3.15pm finish.  They should be in their games kit with a school jumper on.  Children will be provided with a free packed lunch from school. Please tell us if you are providing one from home as it takes time to prepare them. Thank you.

 

CLASS, TEAM and MUSIC GROUP PHOTOGRAPHS

On Thursday, 6th June, the photographer will be coming into school to take class, team and music group photographs.  Children should be in full school uniform and if they are a member of a school team or play a musical instrument, have their kit and instrument in school.

 

Just to remind you that school closes today for half term. We re-open on Tuesday 4th June at 8:45am.  Monday, 3rd June is a staff-training day.

The attendance certificate for last week was once again won by the Wrens class with 100% attendance.  Well done Wrens .  Overall attendance for the school was 97.25%.

 

EUROPEAN ELECTIONS

Just a reminder that school is closed next Thursday, 23rd May as we are being used as a Polling Station.  We will re-open on the Friday morning, 8.45 am for an 8.55am start.

 

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

On Friday, 14th June, 3.30 –5:00pm, we will be having our ‘Summer Fun Night’.  There will be inflatable games, bouncy castles, gladiator run, climbing slide, go-karts, face painting stalls and refreshments.  As last year, we will be charging a ‘one-off’ price for unlimited use of all the inflatables and go-karts of £5.00 for a wristband. Wristbands are available NOW from the school office! Please note any child, regardless of age, must have a wristband.

 

To help towards the ‘Summer Fun Night’ we will be holding some non-uniform wear what you want days and ask for a contribution to be brought into school:

KEY 103 SUPERHERO DAY

Thank you again for all your support for this great cause. We raised £190 for Teenage Cancer Trust. The children had good fun watching the teachers challenging each other.

DINNER MONIES

We have noticed that some parents are not paying for their child’s school meals. Dinner money must be paid either in advance for the week or on a daily basis. School cannot afford to carry any debt, therefore if you do not pay on the day or in advance for the week(s) your child will not be provided with a school meal.  Dinner money is £2.15 per day, £10.75 per week.  You can now pay using our online system and everything is now working well. If you need some assistance with this, please contact the school office. If you want to pay by card at the school office, then this is an option too.

Please pay in multiples of £2:15, this helps with our record keeping.

For example:

£2:15               -           1 day

£10:75             -           5 days

£21:50             -           10 days

£32.25             -           15 days

£43.00             -           20 days

If for any reason you are having difficulty paying for school meals, please make an appointment to see me.

P.E & GAMES KITS

Could we please remind parents/carers that children need their PE and games kit in school every week. We suggest that it is brought into school on a Monday morning for the week and then taken home on a Friday for washing if needed.  Thank you

INTER-SCHOOLS ATHLETICS MEETING

On Tuesday next week, some of our year 1 and 2 children will be involved in an inter-schools athletics competition at Middleton (you should have already received a letter if your child is involved).  Please feel free to come along and support our team.

 

SATs WEEK

Please note next week our year 6 children will be involved in SAT’s tests.  It is very important that all children are in school during the week as tests can only be taken on certain days. The children do the tests in the school hall and we ensure that the children are as calm and happy as possible.

  • Monday, 13th May                  -          Spelling Punctuation and Grammar tests
  • Tuesday, 14th May                  -         Reading test
  • Wednesday, 15th May            -          Maths papers 1 and 2
  • Thursday, 16th May               -          Maths paper 3

It is important that the children have a good breakfast, plenty of sleep and arrive in school happy. Don’t forget the children can bring a lucky mascot if they wish. Good luck to you all.

EUROPEAN ELECTIONS 23rd MAY

On Thursday, 23rd May, school will be used as a Polling Station for the European Elections.  In order to safeguard our children, we have no choice but to close the school on this day.  I do apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but I am sure you will understand that the reason for this closure is beyond our control.

 

ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE

The Wren class won the attendance certificate for last week with 100% attendance.  Well done .  Overall attendance for the school was 96.55%.

 

INTER-SCHOOLS ROUNDERS RALLY

On Thursday, 9th May, some of our year 5 & 6 children are taking part in an inter-school’s rounder’s rally at Kingsway Park High School (you should have already received a letter if your child is involved).  Please feel free to come along and support our team.

 

KEY 103 SUPERHERO DAY

We have once again signed up to support Key 103 Superhero Day on Friday, 10th May. This year they are raising money for Clic Sargent – young lives against cancer.  This is a great charity for very sick children and their families. We ask that the children come dressed as Superheroes for the day and donate £1 for the charity. Children and staff will be taking part in challenges throughout the day.  Thank you.

  

SATs WEEK

During the week beginning Monday, 13th May, our year 6 children will be involved in SATs tests.  It is very important that all children are in school during this week as tests can only be taken on certain days. It is also important that they are in school every day leading up to the SATs. More information will be sent out closer to the time. SATs week is a good week in school and we aim to make it as enjoyable as we can. SATs  Year 2 SATs are also carried out in May. These will be completed on various days throughout May, they are done so informally your child may not know!

 

BANK HOLIDAY

Just a reminder that school closes today and re-opens on Tuesday, 7th May 8.45am for an 8.55am start.  Enjoy your long weekend.

FAMILY LUNCHES

Due to an extremely busy term ahead, we are unable to offer family lunches. I do apologise, as I know you enjoy them.

 

POLLING DAY

On Thursday, 2nd May, school will be used as a Polling Station.  In order to safeguard our children, we have no choice but to close the school on this day.  We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but we are sure you will understand that the reason for this closure is beyond our control. Next year this day of closure will be used as a staff-training day. On Thursday, 23rd May, we may have to close for the European elections. I will send more information as this becomes clearer.

 

   JUNIOR PARKRUN

   I would like to make you aware of a free, 2k, junior parkrun event for children aged 4-14, which takes place in Milnrow Memorial Park every 

   Sunday at 9am.

TENNIS CLUB

The year 1 & 2 tennis club will be restarting and the first session will be next Monday, 29th April 3.15 – 4.00pm.   Children should bring their outdoor games kit to wear and will then go home in it. If your child would like to attend, they should collect a consent form from Mrs. Dry. Please note that children will not be able to attend without a signed consent form.

 

YEAR 5/6 NETBALL COMPETITION

Wednesday, 1st May, after school, some of our year 5 and 6 children will be taking part in an inter-school’s netball rally at Wardle Academy (you should have already received a letter if your child is involved).  Please feel free to come along and support our team.
