ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE The attendance certificate for last week was won by the Rosefinch class, with an attendance of 97.2%. Well done to Rosefinch. Overall attendance for the school was 94.6% which is very low for us.
SPORTS WEEK Next week beginning Monday, 10th July, the children will be involved in various sporting activities. You are invited to attend your child’s sports day: Robins, Wrens and Sparrows - Tuesday, 11th July - 9:30am. Rosefinch, Goldfinch and Greenfinch - Wednesday, 12th July - 9.30am. Kestrels, Eagles, Falcons and Owls - Friday, 14th July - 9:30am. We hope you can make it. If the weather is dreadful, then we will rearrange these days. Unfortunately that will mean there will be little notice. Our school hall is just too small. After sports week all kits can go home.
ATHLETICS MEETING AT KINGSWAY PARK HIGH SCHOOL On Wednesday, 12th July some of our Year 5 and 6 children will be involved in an Inter Schools Athletics Meeting at Kingsway Park High School (you should have already received a letter if your child is involved). Please feel free to come along and support our team.
SCHOOL UNIFORM We are pleased to announce that once again Moses Schoolwear, on Drake Street in Rochdale, will be stocking all items of our school uniform this year. If you mention that you have seen this reminder in the newsletter you will qualify for a 10% discount!

ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE The attendance certificate for last week was won by the Falcon class, with an attendance of 98.9%. Well done to Falcons. Overall attendance for the school was 96.8%.
YEAR 6 VISIT TO HOLLINGWORTH ACADEMY On Tuesday, 4th July, Year 6 children will be visiting Hollingworth Academy. Children are asked to be at Hollingworth for a 9.00am start and will be released at 2.30pm. Children will need to make their own travel arrangements to and from Hollingworth. They should be in school uniform and will need a pen and pencil. They can either take a packed lunch from home, or alternatively a school meal will be provided free of charge. Children should not return to Crossgates when discharged from Hollingworth at 2.30pm.
NEW CLASSES On Tuesday, 4th July all children will spend a whole day in their new class. It is important that children go to their current classroom in the morning for registration. At the end of the day the children will leave again from their current class so that we don’t cause any confusion.
P.E AND GAMES KIT Children should have their P.E and games kits in school each week. P.E. kits should only go home for washing each holiday. Thank you.

THE SCHOOL DAY We have had a number of children consistently arriving at school late. Children should be in class ready to start work at 8.55am. It is not a great start to the day and children miss out on important learning. Children really don’t like walking into class late.

CROSSGATES HAS TALENT Thank you to all the children who are taking part. Boot Camp for the show is on 27th June. Children must have their music, costumes and any equipment in school on that day.

FOOTBALL MATCH After school on Thursday, 29th June, our A & B football teams will be playing Newhey and Holy Trinity at Newhey Primary (your child should have already received a letter if they are involved). Please feel free to come along and support our teams.

SUMMER FUN NIGHT Wow! What a fantastic night – we were so lucky with the weather. I am sure you will agree that the night was a great success. The children had so much fun and amazingly, we raised over £2500. This will be split between the two charities, Manchester Children’s Hospital and SANDs. Thank you for all your support and generosity – see you again next year!

MINI SPLASH Robins and Wrens will be visiting Hollingworth Lake to take part in the mini splash activities (you should have already received a letter if your child is involved). Children will be taken to and from the lake by coach and will need a packed lunch. Please ensure you have ordered one from school if not providing one from home. They will arrive back at school in time for a normal finish. Please ensure you have completed and returned the consent form to your child’s class teacher.

MILNROW CARNIVAL Milnrow Carnival is on Saturday, 24th June this year and Crossgates will be entering a float with the Steel Band on it. We hope to see you all there.

YEAR 6 COFFEE MORNING On Friday, 23rd June at 9.00am, staff from Hollingworth Academy will be hosting a coffee morning at Crossgates for parents of Year 6 children who will be starting at Hollingworth Academy in September (you should have already received a letter if your child is involved). This will be a very informal morning where parents can ask any questions they may have. We hope you can make it.
DAMAGE TO CARS OUTSIDE SCHOOL Unfortunately, this week’s newsletter will end on an unhappy note. Last week, both parent and staff cars parked opposite school where damaged by someone scratching the paintwork. Police have been notified but if we could please ask everyone to be vigilant and if anyone sees any damage being done or has any information relating to the above, contact the police immediately. MUSICAL.LY APP If your child is using the musical.ly app, please delete immediately. I did ask the children to do this months ago. There has been a SERIOUS safeguarding issue with some children using this app at home. It is far too open and there is no monitoring. The police are involved in this case.

NON-UNIFORM ‘WEAR WHAT YOU WANT DAY’ Friday, 16th June, is non-uniform wear what you want day and we would like the children to bring a donation of cakes or biscuits for the cake tombola at our Summer Fun Night, that evening. Unfortunately, due to health and safety, we can only accept shop bought items use by date on please.

SUMMER FUN NIGHT Next Friday, 16th June 3.30-6.00pm is our Summer Fun Night. Wristbands now on sale at the office priced £5.00 – this will entitle the wearer to all the bouncy castles, go-karts, penalty shoot-out, bungee run, inflatable slide and ball pool all night! Stalls, face painting and refreshments will incur an additional charge. Everybody welcome, tell all your friends! Please note, all children no matter what age wanting togo on the inflatables will need to purchase a wristband. Thank you. We have decided that all the money raised will be split between Manchester Children’s Hospital, for all the wonderful work they have done in saving Cally’s life and for SANDS – Stillborn and Neonatal Deaths, on behalf of Mrs. Byrne’s baby boy and Mr. Ashworth’s granddaughters. I hope you agree that these are both very worthwhile causes. There is a collection tin in the office if you would like to donate any extra money. Many thanks for your support – we hope the sun shines!
FOOTBALL RESULT On Thursday, 25th May, our A & B football teams played Littleborough and St. James Wardle, at Littleborough. Both teams had two tough matches. The A team sadly lost both their games but the B team managed to win 2 – 0 against St. James Wardle, and 3 – 0 against Littleborough. Well done to all those involved and a big thank you to Mr. Ferris, Mrs Farnsworth and all the parents for their support.
RECEPTION 2017 – NEW PARENTS MEETING On Wednesday, 14th June, at 7pm, we will be having a meeting for all parents of children starting at Crossgates in September. This will take place in the school hall. We look forward to seeing you.
