Welcome Back

This school year

Dear Parents/Carers,                                                                                                                      2nd September 2022

Good morning, I hope you have all had a great summer. I am sure you are now excited for Monday and for school to start again. We are all ready and looking forward to the year ahead.

Over the summer, we have had work carried out in school. The toilets for the children have been revamped and made much better for the children. An electronic gate has been fitted to the front of school so that visitors will need to buzz to come up the main path. I know that this is something that was requested in previous parent questionnaires. Also, parts of the school have been painted.

As I mentioned before summer, reading for pleasure is part of our new school impact plan for this year. This can be found on the website. You may have noticed the outdoor classroom is being made into a Reading Shack. There will be reading sheds with books in and beanbags for children to sit on whilst they read. This will be for playtimes and during the day.

As part of this, I want to initiate surprise readers of the week, to come into school and read to a class. This will happen each Friday at 2:45. This can be anybody and staff will move around school to read to different classes. I would also like parents and grandparents to get involved too. If you would like to be a surprise reader this term, either once or every week, please get in touch with me. It would just involve you reading a children’s book of your choice or one from school to a class. Staff will stay with you and support you.

If you do volunteer, keep it a surprise for your children. I think the children will really enjoy this and it would give you an opportunity to come into school. I am excited by it and I really hope we get some volunteers. You can make it as exciting as you like!

Dinner money

Dinner money will be £2:50 per day, £12:50 per week. I know this is a price increase, but they are still good value for money. Reception, year one and two are still entitled to free meals.

Cups

We will go back to children having cups in school for water. We will provide the cups, so no need for a water bottle. At the moment they haven’t arrived, so I will send a message later in the day if they need a bottle on Monday.

PE kits and uniform

In September, children will still come to school in their PE kit on PE days. We will let you know when their day is. During the first week back I would like children in full uniform every day.

PE kit:

Trainers

Blue or black plain leggings or jogger

Plain white T-Shirt

School jumper.

Moses school wear are selling a Crossgates hoodie for PE if anybody wants something different for the PE day.

Remember PE day is not a wear what you want day.

As we are using the hall again for PE, all children will need a black pair of pumps in a pump bag to be left in school. Please write your child’s name in them.

Uniform

School jumper/ cardigan/fleece

White polo shirt

Grey/black/blue trousers, shirt or pinafore.

Shoes must be black or plain black trainers, nothing else. Velcro shoes are best for younger

Thank you to everybody who completed the online questionnaire. One person who said their child is unsafe and not happy in school. Please let me know who this is so we can sort this out ASAP, thank you.

We look forward to another great year, seeing all the children again next week and welcoming the new children. Have a great weekend and see you on Monday.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. J Norton
