POLLUTION OUTSIDE SCHOOL

National statistics state that outside schools at the start and end of the school day, the levels of pollution are extremely high and dangerous. It has been brought to my attention and I have seen it too, that many cars are stationary with engines running. I know it’s cold, but please can you turn your engines off whilst waiting rather than contributing to the high levels of pollution – many thanks.

STOPPING/PARKING OUTSIDE SCHOOL

We have had several complaints recently about blocked drives and people parking on the grass verges in front of houses.

It is imperative that when you visit our school either to drop off or pick up your children that you do so with due care and attention and do not put others at risk. We would also ask that consideration be given to our neighbours, parking safely and in appropriate areas.  It is important to our school that positive relations with our local community and neighbours remain in place and do not diminish due to inconsiderate, dangerous parking by our parents or visitors.

ONLINE ACTIVITIES

We have some exciting online learning opportunities for your child:

Years 1 – 6      Purple Mash

A range of 2Dos computing activities relating to our curriculum.

https://www.purplemash.com/crossgates

Years 2 – 6         TT Rockstars

Games to improve table skills.

https://www.ttrockstars.com    School postcode: OL16 3HB

Teachers are setting optional activities that your child can complete at home.  Your child will have login details and their password in their reading diary.  They should now be able to show you how to access these activities.  If you have any questions, please ask a member of staff in your unit.

COLD WEATHER

Sadly, the weather has now taken a turn for the worse and the temperatures have dropped.   Please ensure that your child has suitable clothing for break and lunchtimes.  A warm coat, hat, gloves and a scarf.  A school fleece is not warm enough.  Thank you.

CROSSGATES APP

Unfortunately, we have been informed by parents that they have been experiencing difficulties when trying to download the Crossgates App for mobile phones or tablets.  We have now fixed this glitch and you should be able to find us if you access the Google or Apple store and search for School Jotter, then follow the instructions.  Alternatively, a link can be found on the home page of our website.  Please note that the App only contains the same content as the website and is basically a shortcut, with all the information at your fingertips.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate in calling into school.

We are still supporting this worthwhile cause. The donation box is in front of the fish tank in the main entrance if you would like to donate any food items. At the moment they are in need of long life milk, female sanitary products/toiletries.

PE KIT

We are having lots of issues with children forgetting or not having appropriate PE kit in school, especially pumps.  Pumps in our school are very important as our hall is used for so many activities and it could become a hazard for children without pumps.

PE kit – must be in school every day.

  • T shirt
  • Shorts
  • Pumps

The perfect PE kit:

Football kits are not allowed in school.

Games kit – can be left in school all term or can be brought on the day of games but must be in school every week.

We appreciate that they may be needed for other clubs.

  • Tracksuit or a change of trousers and sweatshirt/jumper
  • Trainers

It is also really useful if kit bags have a spare pair of socks in them just in case socks get wet during games or girls are wearing tights. All kit must have the child’s name in.  Tape or plasters must be in kit bags if your child has earrings. Alternatively, they must be removed. Long hair must be tied up

As you may be aware, Intra Health have recently visited school to administer flu vaccines to some of our children.  Due to a high demand, they will now be holding several ‘drop in’ clinics for parents to take their other children along for the vaccine.  This is likely to be the last opportunity for the flu vaccination this season.  If you would like any of your other children to receive the vaccine, please contact IntraHealth direct on 0333 357 3396 to book a slot.  This will ensure that there are enough vaccines available.
