Welcome Back

CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCES 

The last Christmas production is for Kestrel, Eagle and Falcons classes and is on Monday, 16th December at 2.00pm and 6.00pm.

 

Thank you for all your support at the Christmas Productions, especially in providing costumes. Your children have been fabulous. They have worked so hard to learn lines, songs and dances, we are very proud of them all. The sale of raffle tickets, tea, coffee and mince pies has so far raised over £400.00 for school fund.  Thank you again for your support. All the money raised will go towards equipment for the children.

  • Thursday, 19th December         –        Party and Panto – please bring £2 towards the Panto.  Children can come in their own clothes all day.

 

ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATES

The attendance certificate for last week was won by Owls 2 (Mrs. Hall) with 99.6% attendance.  Well done to Owls 2   .  Overall attendance for the school was 97.45 %. 

 

MISSION CHRISTMAS TOY APPEAL

What a fantastic response.  Thank you for the amazing support for this very worthwhile cause. The toys have now been collected.

 

THE FOODBANK

The foodbank runs low at this time of year. We are always collecting food. If you can spare any tins or packets before Christmas, it would be greatly appreciated. They are in urgent need of tinned meat, tinned fish and UHT milk.  Thank you.

 

 

We are now collecting tokens from the Sun newspaper.  The tokens will be in the papers until 18th January 2020 and we need to collect 3,500 tokens to get free books for the school.  The collection box is in the front entrance.  Thank you

Once again we are a drop off point for Hits Radio ‘Mission Christmas’ - Cash for Kids.  If you can, please buy an extra Christmas present this year.  When you donate your gifts they will go to disadvantaged children in the Manchester area and you can make sure they have a present to open on Christmas morning. All gifts should be new and unwrapped and can be brought into school now.  Thank you for your support.

You should have received a letter/consent slip giving your child permission to take part in the evening performance. Tickets cannot be collected without a signed consent slip. Ticket allocation is 2 tickets per family per performance. Unfortunately, we have had to limit the number of tickets due to health and safety reasons, as we can only have a limited number of people in the hall. Hopefully this will enable you to watch the performances in comfort. Raffle tickets will be sold and drawn at each performance. Tea, coffee and mince pies are also on sale at each performance.

 Please note: tickets are required for every performance – afternoon and evening.

 

MOVING HOUSE/CHANGING TELEPHONE NUMBERS

There have been several instances recently when we have needed to contact parents and the contact numbers we have on file have not been current.  It is extremely important that we have up to date emergency telephone numbers and current addresses on file.  If you move house or change your number, please inform the school office immediately so that we can update our records.  Thank you

GENERAL ELECTION – SCHOOL CLOSURE

Unfortunately, the school will be closed on Thursday, 12th December as it is being used as a Polling Station.  I apologise for the short notice and any inconvenience caused, but it is out of our hands on this occasion. This is due to the timing of the general election being announced.

CLUBS

Due to poor weather and darker nights most after school clubs are now cancelled until further notice.

The only clubs that will run will be – Ed-Start, French and Karate. Breakfast and after school clubs will run as normal.

#BE KIND

Monday, 11th November is the start of #Be Kind week. We are encouraging the children to wear odd socks, especially on the Monday. The odd socks represent that we are all different. During the week the children will work on being kind and what to do if someone bullies you.

 

LUNCHTIME SUPERVISOR JOB VACANCY

Calling all Mums, Dads, Grandmas, Grandads, Aunties, Uncles and friends.  Do you have a spare hour or two at lunchtime and would like to earn some extra cash?  Would you like a rewarding, enjoyable job with 13 weeks holiday a year?  We currently have a vacancy for a Lunchtime Supervisor. The hours are Monday to Friday 12.00 - 1.15pm, term-time only with lunch provided.  If interested, please contact the school office for more details and an application form.  Please note any appointment is subject to the relevant checks and DBS clearance. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

 

CHILDREN IN NEED

Friday, 15th November is Children in Need day. 

This year children can come in colourful clothing or just dressed in their own clothes.  We would like the children to bring a donation of tinned or packet food as once again, we will be supporting Rochdale Foodbank.  There will be a bake sale on the day – 20p per cake and there is a colouring completion – 50p per sheet.

There have been some changes over the holiday to the school grounds. The equipment outside, which has started to rot, has been removed. This will be replaced during the year. We have also added extra security to the small playground, so that visitors, arriving during the school day, are not walking past children playing.

ENGLISH EVENINGS FOR PARENTS

Wednesday, 6th November, 6pm – Finches.

Thursday, 7th November, 6pm– Year 1 from Sparrows and Wrens.

During these evenings you will be given advice about how to help at home and shown what we are teaching in school. You won’t be made to do any English! Please come along, they will be useful.

COLDER, WETTER WEATHER

Now the weather has sadly changed for the worse, please ensure your child is sent to school in appropriate warm/waterproof clothing and footwear for playtimes and lunchtimes.
