Dear Parents/Carers,                                                                                                                                                                                        17th September 2021

COVID

We do have a high number of cases already. Please ensure you are wearing a mask in the playground until further notice. Thank you.

If somebody in your household has COVID, you must all book A PCR.  If you have a positive LFT, you must book a PCR. I am asking that your child doesn’t return to school until they have a negative result. They do come back very quickly. If you can, then please do a daily LFT with your child for 10 days.

If somebody in your child’s class tests positive, then the class and teachers must go for a PCR, they can return to school as normal. If your child’s result is positive, then they must isolate for 10 days.

We will always inform you via email if there are any cases that affect your child.

Reminders:

  • New Starters Individual Pupil Information Pack – Please return to school as soon as possible. It is very important that we have up to date emergency contact details.
  • If you have moved house over the summer or changed any of your contact details, please notify the office immediately.
  • Musical instrument tuition fees are due now please and must be paid in advance, either on the Monday of that week or for the half term. Please note: if you have not paid for the lesson by the Friday morning your child will not receive a lesson.  Thank you.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS

Please ensure that your child has their name clearly written on all of their belongings. We have already had several instances of lost clothing and it is far easier to return them to the right person if they are labelled.

DINNER MONEY/BEFORE, AFTER SCHOOL CLUB/GUITAR TUITION PAYMENTS

Could we please remind parents that payments for school meals and Before/After school club and guitar tuition, MUST be made in advance.  As a school we cannot afford to amass any debt. If for any reason payment cannot be made, please contact the school office or myself.  Thank you so much for your co-operation.

HOLLINGWORTH ACADEMY OPEN EVENING

On Wednesday, 6th October, 5.00 – 8.30pm, Hollingworth Academy will be holding an Open Evening for parents of Year 6 pupils.  All parents and Year 6 children are invited to attend.

YEAR 6 APPLICATIONS TO HIGH SCHOOL

If your child is moving to high school next year, please be advised that the closing date for applications is Monday, 1st November 2021. If you need help with this, please contact school. Late applications can result in your child being offered a place away from their friends.

If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate in contacting the school office on Tel: 01706 654573.

Have a lovely weekend.

Dear Parents/Carers,                                                                                                                                                                                       10th September 2021

We have had a great start to the new school year; all the children have settled into school extremely well, especially the new reception children. There is a lovely calm feel to school and the children are working extremely hard. It is great to have them all back in school.

COVID

We do have cases already and there seems to be high numbers in the community.

If somebody in your household has Covid, you must all book A PCR. I am now going to ask that your child doesn’t return to school until they have a negative result. They do come back very quickly. If you can, then please do a daily LFT with your child for 10 days.

If somebody in your child’s class tests positive, then the class and teachers must go for a PCR, they can return to school as normal. If their result is positive, then they must isolate.

  • Monday, 13th September Extended day until 4pm starts:

Monday – Finches and Owls

Tuesday – Sparrows and Wrens

Thursday – Falcons, Eagles and Kestrels.

READING

It is really important that your child reads at home for at least 10 minutes every day. They can read to anybody or just to themselves.  Bedtime stories are enjoyable and a great way to enhance your child’s love of books. A child is never too old for a bedtime story, even year sixes!

SNACKS

Children are allowed snacks at playtime - fruit, cheese, breadsticks or veg. Cereal bars are also allowed, but please look at the sugar content. Chocolate biscuit bars are not allowed. If you are sending cherry tomatoes or grapes, please ensure these are cut length ways as these are a choking hazard. Quarters are even better.

ABSENCE

If your child is absent from school for any reason you must telephone the office before 9.00am every day of absence.

SICKNESS IN SCHOOL.

If your child is sick during the night or in school they must be off school for 48 hours. This is to prevent illnesses passing around school. Thank you for your co-operation.

HOLIDAYS DURING TERM TIME.

Children must not be taken on holiday during term time. Please ensure that holidays are booked during the school holidays. Children are only in school for 190 days per year. There will be no authorised holidays.

HEAD LICE

Unfortunately, as we return to school it usually means a return of head lice! Please check your children’s hair weekly and inform us if they have any. This way we can try to keep on top of them by telling other parents.

FREE MILK

All children in reception, year one and two are entitled to a carton of free milk per day.   Following guidelines, all children will receive semi-skimmed milk.  If for any reason you do not wish your child to receive milk, please speak with their class teacher.

LATE ARRIVALS

If your child is late, you must sign them in using our electronic system at the school office. Thank you.

CROSSING, STOPPING/PARKING OUTSIDE SCHOOL

As you know, we have a Crossing patrol outside school and on Wildhouse Lane. We ask that you use this service to cross the road; it is extremely dangerous to cross the road between parked cars. Also, can we remind parents that they must not stop or park on the zig-zag lines outside school, block or reverse in the entrance to the car park or block local residents’ driveways. Our residents do get very frustrated if they can’t leave their driveway.

BREAKFAST CLUB AND AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

Breakfast club is open from 7:30 am and costs £4 including breakfast and activities. The after-school club is open every night until 5:15pm.  3:15pm – 4:15pm costs £4.00.  After 4:15pm £7:00. Children must be collected no later than 5.15pm and lateness will be charged at £1 for every 5 minutes.  There are lots of activities for the children to take part in and there is a snack available for the children.

Both clubs are in the school hall.  Places must be booked and paid for in advance through the school office.

Payment is made using our online system. If you need some assistance with this, please contact the school office. If you want to pay by card over the telephone at the school office, then this is an option too.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS

If you are in receipt of benefits and think you may be entitled to Free School Meals, please contact Mrs. McGuigan or

Mrs. Richards in the office – this is not the same as the Universal Free Meals which all children in reception, year 1 and 2 are entitled to.  Please still apply if your child is in reception, year 1 or 2.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS

Please ensure that your child has their name clearly written on all of their belongings. That way it is far easier to return them to the right person if they are misplaced.

DINNER MONEY

Dinner money is £2.40 per day, £12 per week.  Please note, dinner money must be either paid in advance for the week or on a daily basis, as the school cannot afford to carry any debt. Payment is made using our online system. If you need some assistance with this, please contact the school office. If you want to pay by card over the telephone at the school office, then this is an option too.

Please pay in multiples of £2:40, this helps with our record keeping.

For example:

£2:40                    -             1 day

£12.00                  -             5 days

£24.00                  -             10 days

Thank you so much for your co-operation.

If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate in contacting the school office on Tel: 01706 654573.

Have a lovely weekend.
