Dear Parents/Carers, 1st April 2022
Reminders
You can pay by:
Online with a card. Over the telephone by card.
DATES FOR YOUR DIARY: Monday, 4th April - Owls 1 Fire Safety trip. Children will need a packed lunch from home unless a school one has been ordered. Wednesday, 6th April - Class photographs. Children must be in full school uniform.
START AND END OF THE DAY After Easter, the start and the end of the day will go back to normal. Some of you will have never experienced this! Pre-covid, the school day was 8:45am – 3:15pm and we are returning to these times. In the morning, doors will be open from 8:45am. The children will have a 10-minute window to be into school by 8:55am, when learning will start. At the end of the day, the whole school will finish at 3:15pm. In the morning, the children can arrive on the playground ready for the doors to open. Please do not congregate around the doors. At the end of the day, please still stand away from the class doors to wait for your child, just as you have been. All your children are really independent now, let’s not lose this. If your child is happy to go onto the playground on their own, as they have all year, then let them continue to do this. Many thanks for your support and patience over the last two years.
OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT You may have noticed that we have yellow signs outside school to say that the equipment must not be played on without the supervision of school staff. This is for health and safety and insurance reasons. I know it is tempting, but please keep your children off the equipment. It is also really important that you still leave the school grounds as soon as you collect your child. We are still trying to avoid congestion outside. Thank you.
COVID From today, there are no longer any free tests. You may still have some at home, if you have, use them when needed.
The advice is now: Adults, with symptoms and a temperature – isolate for 5 days and return to work from day 6. Children, with symptoms and a temperature – isolate for 3 days and return to school on day 4. They must not return with a temperature. Anybody with positive test will isolate for 5 days. The key point seems to be the temperature and staying away from school and work until it has gone. I hope this makes sense.
NON- UNIFORM WEAR YELLOW AND BLUE On the last day of term, Friday 8th April, children can dress in yellow, yellow and blue or their own clothes and wear their Easter hat if they have one. We also want to coincide this day with raising money for the Ukraine appeal again. We have set up a JustGiving page and the link is below if you would like to donate. Many thanks for your support.
CROSSING, STOPPING/PARKING OUTSIDE SCHOOL As you know, we have a Crossing patrol outside school. We ask that you use this service to cross the road; it is extremely dangerous to cross the road between parked cars. Also, can we remind parents that they must not stop or park on the zig-zag lines outside school, block or reverse in the entrance to the car park or block local residents’ driveways. Our residents do get very frustrated if they can’t leave their driveway. The same rules apply to taxis dropping families off, tell the driver where to park please. Surely, 2 minutes driving up the road and turning around is better than injuring a child. Please make outside our school a safer place for all. Thank you.
EASTER HOLIDAY Just a reminder that we finish for Easter next Friday, 8th April and return to school on Monday, 25th April. I hope you have a great break.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate in ringing school.

NEW CARETAKER On Monday, our new caretaker will be starting. His name is Mr. Sloan and you will see him around school. Mr. Ashworth is retiring at Easter after 13 years. We wish him a long and happy retirement.
COVID We have had many new cases in school, both children and staff. It has particularly affected the younger children and their staff. I have sent warn and inform letters to the classes involved. I know the guidance has changed, but if you can test your children that would be great. It just helps me to try and control the outbreak in school. Our risk assessment is on our website. If positive, the advice is still to isolate for at least 5 days and complete a test on day 5 and 6. Please continue to let us know if your child is positive, thank you.
If you have any questions, please contact me via the school office. Thank you. |

It has been a very exciting week in school. 27 eggs in incubators arrived on Monday and we now have 23 chicks in Robins, Wrens and Sparrows. Before the chicks go to the farm, each class will have some time with the chicks. The School Councillors have started their work on being a plastic clever school. Their campaign is called ‘Crossgates Against Plastics’. They have delivered their first assembly and will be working across school encouraging recycling and trying to stop using single use plastics. The School Councillors have also planted a tree this week for the ‘Queen’s Green Canopy’. It is a birch tree at the front of school. You will see it has a protective cover around it and a beautiful plaque made by Miss Clayton. Trees are being planted all over the country to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Please don’t allow your children to play around it whilst waiting to come into school, thank you.
