COVID

Masks are now voluntary in the playground, however if you would like to speak with a member of staff, we ask that you wear one. If you have to come into school for a meeting, we are now asking parents, guardians and other visitors to take a lateral flow test (LFT) test before entering school.

If your child has Covid symptoms, a PCR must be carried out, not an LFT.

If somebody in your household has Covid, you must all book a PCR.  If you have a positive LFT, you must book a PCR.

I am asking that your child doesn’t return to school until they have a negative PCR result. They do come back very quickly. If you can, then please do a daily LFT with your child for 10 days.

If somebody in your child’s class tests positive, then the class and teachers must go for a PCR, they can return to school as normal. If your child’s result is positive, then they must isolate for 10 days.

We will always inform you via email if there are any cases that affect your child. Many thanks to the parents who have informed me immediately about their child’s results. Over the weekend please use my email – head@crossgates.rochdale.sch.uk

All individuals who have been identified as a close contact of a suspected or confirmed case of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, irrespective of vaccination status and age, will continue to be required to self-isolate and asked to book a PCR test.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate in contacting the school office on Tel: 01706 654573. We have resumed tours of school for parents only for the new intake. If you wish to book a tour, contact the school office.

SEPTEMBER 2022 INTAKE

With effect from 1 December 2021, School Admissions are moving to only accepting applications that have been submitted online using the parent portal.

This is something that has long been discussed and the decision has been made to move to an online-only process for the following reasons:

  • Paper forms may take a few days to be received, scanned and added to the system (particularly as Admissions staff are not currently office-based 100% of the time);
  • Neighbouring LAs have already moved to an online-only process and this has proved successful;
  • Applications being submitted online go immediately on to the system for processing which speeds up the process and provides a better service for our parents and schools;
  • Online applications cannot be lost in the post;
  • The legibility of handwritten forms can lead to mistakes being made so moving to online will minimise the risk of GDPR breaches etc;
  • Online notifications can be sent saving print and post and reducing the time taken for applications to be processed.

Applications can be submitted using the Parent Portal, the link for which is https://parentportal.rochdale.gov.uk/web/portal/pages/

The closing date for applications is Monday, 17 January 2022.  Applications submitted after 1 December will be returned and the applicant will be advised to re-submit online.

DINNER AND BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL PAYMENTS

Recently we have had several instances of non-payment for dinners and BASC.  As we are now a cashless school, payment must be made either on the day or in advance for the week/term via our School Money system with your debit or credit card.  To log into School Money, visit the website www.eduspot.co.uk and click on the sign in button in the top right hand corner. In the drop down, select the SchoolMoney Parent Login option and this will send you through to a page where you need to enter your mobile number, email address, the password we have sent to you and your child’s first name. If for any reason you are struggling to log in, it may be because you have not provided us with the cor

Dear Parents/Carers,                                                                                                                                                                                                         5th November 2021

CHILDREN IN NEED

Friday, 12th November is Children in Need day.  The theme this year is bright colours and children can come dressed in their own clothes with wacky hair or facepaints.  We would like the children to bring a donation of tinned or packet food as once again, we will be supporting Rochdale Foodbank, which I’m sure you will agree, is a fantastic cause.

MORRISONS – ‘ITS GOOD TO GROW’

                                          We are now collecting ‘It’s good to Grow’ tokens.  Here is how it works….

  1. Morrison customers download the MyMorrisons app
  2. Sign in or register and select Crossgates School
  3. Scan the app at the checkout or use online when shopping
  4. For every £10 spent you will receive a Grow Token to donate to school.

After the collection period we can then exchange the tokens for free equipment for school.  Thank you.

CROSSING, STOPPING/PARKING OUTSIDE SCHOOL

As you know, we have a Crossing patrol outside school and on Wildhouse Lane. We ask that you use this service to cross the road; it is extremely dangerous to cross the road between parked cars. Also, can we remind parents that they must not stop or park on the zig-zag lines outside school, block or reverse in the entrance to the car park or block local residents’ driveways. Our residents get very frustrated if they can’t leave their driveway.

CROSSGATES COOKS FOR KIDS

Our next cycle of 4 weekly lunch menus are now available on the school website.  Next week will be week 6. http://www.crossgates.rochdale.sch.uk/parents/school-meals

WE ARE A NUT FREE SCHOOL, PLEASE CHECK THE CONTENTS OF YOUR CHILD’S PACKED LUNCH AND ENSURE THERE ARE NO NUT INGREDIENTS.

SEPTEMBER 2022 INTAKE

Application forms will be available online at www.rochdale.gov.uk/schooladmissions for children who will be starting school in September 2022.  The closing date for applications is Monday, 17 January 2022.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate in contacting the school office on Tel: 01706 654573. We have resumed tours of school for parents only for the new intake. If you wish to book a tour, contact the school office.

POPPY APPEAL

Unfortunately, we are unable to sell poppies in school this year. You can still buy them at your local supermarket.

COVID

Masks are now voluntary in the playground, please feel free to wear one.

Reminders:

  • If you are contacting the school by email about your child for any reason, please use Pupilline@crossgates.rochdale.sch.uk - except for Covid cases over the weekend. Thank you.
  • Musical instrument tuition fees are due now please and must be paid in advance, either on the Monday of that week or for the half term. Please note: if you have not paid for the lesson by the Friday morning your child will not receive a lesson.  Thank you.
  • School Meals, breakfast and after school clubs– could we please remind parents that payments should be made in advance, either on the day or for the week/month. As a school we cannot afford to amass any debt.  Could we also remind you that we are now a cashless school and all payments must be made by card either via the app or over the telephone with the office.
