School Uniform
At Crossgates Primary School, we take great pride in our school uniform. Wearing our uniform fosters a sense of community, equality, and pride among our pupils while helping them feel part of our school family.
We are also proud to be a school that values active, hands-on outdoor learning. Whether exploring our garden, investigating nature, or playing during outdoor sessions, children learn best when they are active! We love outdoor learning, so please don’t be alarmed if your child comes home a little muddy from time to time- it’s always a sign of a great day of discovery.
Our Commitment to Affordability
In line with the Department for Education (DfE) statutory guidance on school uniforms, we are committed to keeping uniform costs reasonable, fair, and accessible for all families:
-
Branded Items Kept to a Minimum: We do not insist upon any branded uniform items but you may purchase them if you wish.
-
High-Street Options Welcome: Parents and carers are free to purchase unbranded items (such as trousers, skirts, shirts, and polo shirts) from high-street stores or supermarkets.
-
Second-Hand Uniform Available: We strongly encourage the reuse of uniform items to support both affordability and environmental sustainability.
Details on how to access our pre-loved uniform scheme can be found below. -
Inclusivity & Flexibility: Our uniform policy is designed to be inclusive across all protected characteristics (in accordance with the Equality Act 2010).
We welcome reasonable adjustments for religious requirements, cultural dress, medical needs, or sensory sensitivities.
You can find pre-loved uniform at no cost outside our school office. Items are accessible during the school day, so there is no need to ask- just help yourself!
