Here at Crossgates music is a fun, engaging and energetic subject that enriches our lives for the better.

We have recently reviewed our subject coverage so that we follow the model music curriculum.  Singing, listening composing and performance are revisited throughout the year to build upon children’s prior learning and give them positive music experiences.  Each year group has the opportunity to develop their musical skill, understanding and confidence as they face new challenges and learning situations. Children now have a great selection of instruments to explore including handbells, glockenspiels, ukuleles and steel pans.

Enjoy watching a snippet of our performances!

In Year 6 we have learnt to read music from C to C using staff notation.  Here we are playing in 4 part harmony.

In Year 4 and 5 we have learning about Musicals.  Here is our take on Oliver Twist - Consider Yourself.

In Year 2 & 3 we start to learn notation using colour coded music.  Here we learnt a piece called Festive Bells and performed it for our Christmas Show.

We have recently expanded our subject coverage to include Ukuleles.  Here the children at the beginning of their Ukulele journey.
